ELECTRONIC FILING Congress has mandated that the IRS create a completely paperless system of filing, paying and refunding all taxes within the next 8 years. There are goals set to increase filing from 20% of all individual returns in 1997 and 25% in 1998 to 60% within the next four years and 80% within the next six years. We are going to have a truly Electronic Tax Administration. We are working very closely with the Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board to encourage other tax practioners to use E-FILE. On November 16, 1998, I received the DIRECTOR'S AWARD from Steve A. Jensen, the Los Angeles District Director. It states: "In recognition of your outstanding support and involvement in the advancement of Electronic Tax Administration. I am pleased to present you with this Award, the highest honor I can bestow as a District Director of Internal Revenue." In October 1999, I was appointed to the Internal Revenue Service Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee. I will be meeting in Washington, DC four times a year and assisting in an annual report to Congresss on progress with E-FILE. Online computer users will be able to obtain free software for electronic filing their own returns. We offer a review service for those persons who would like a second opinion from a CPA before filing their returns. The Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board allow direct deposit of tax refunds. You can have your refund deposited in your account in as little as 10 days. You can also have your account automatically debited for the amount of any tax due, and will soon be able to make your estimated tax payments by direct debit. Starting with the 1998 filing season, the IRS will be offering, through a private contractor, the ability for the taxpayer to use Mastercard, Visa, American Express or the Discovery Card to pay any tax liability. Imagine the frequent flyer miles you can receive. For the 2000 tax filing season we will be filing partnership returns electronically and we expect to be filing all corporation returns electronically for the year 2001 filing season. Our firm will stay on the cutting edge of these changes. We have never added any additional charges for electronic filing. Electronic filing is available until October 15th of each year.
